Director (Research & Consultancy)

A senior research leader driving the research and consultancy ecosystem at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, fostering innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and industry engagement aligned with the University’s vision of solving societal challenges. With extensive experience in liaising with national funding agencies and mobilizing CSR-supported research initiatives, the Director strengthens externally funded projects, consultancy portfolios, and global research partnerships. The role focuses on enhancing research quality, promoting high-impact publications, patents, technology transfer, and international collaborations while mentoring faculty toward competitive research excellence. Through strategic research governance and outcome-driven initiatives, the office aims to elevate Karunya’s national and global academic standing and contribute to positioning the University among the Top 50 institutions in Indian and among the Top 500 in the World.

Director (Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship)

A Master’s degree, and preferably a Ph.D. in Engineering, Technology, Management, or allied disciplines, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in innovation management, entrepreneurship development, or leadership roles in industry, or startup ecosystems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for spearheading the university’s innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship initiatives by fostering a robust startup ecosystem, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and driving technology-driven societal impact. The role includes building strategic partnerships with venture capitalists, angel investors, and government funding agencies, promoting the commercialization of patents and products, and facilitating technology transfer. A proven track record in securing funding, mentoring startups, and integrating entrepreneurial thinking across academic and research ecosystem.

Director (Karunya Centre for Online & Distance Education)

Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline with an excellent academic record and substantial experience in teaching and academic administration in Higher Education, including at least 5 years in Online / Open & Distance Learning (ODL) leadership roles. Proven experience in establishing, managing, or scaling Online / ODL programs in compliance with regulatory norms, including University Grants Commission ODL/Online Regulations. Demonstrated expertise in digital pedagogy and instructional design; Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration and analytics; student lifecycle management and learner support systems; accreditation and quality assurance processes aligned with National Assessment and Accreditation Council standards. Strong research profile with publications in reputed journals and/or patents. Experience in academic collaborations, industry partnerships, and revenue-generating online programs will be preferred.

Director (Security & Intelligence)

Retired IPS Officers and DSPs with a strong track record in security leadership – including Retired Police Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and Assistant DSP – who can lead comprehensive security operations across the campus and its extended properties.

The Director – Security and Intelligence will be responsible for securing the institution land, protecting students, staff, and infrastructure, establishing and overseeing robust security protocols, and ensuring a safe, substance-free academic environment in line with Government norms. The role includes surveillance against encroachment, public nuisances, and cyber threats, and supporting law and order during major campus events. The Director will also play a key academic support role by delivering expert lectures to students of Criminology, Forensic Science, IT, and Business on topics such as cybercrime, intelligence operations, investigations, and security systems.
