Harvest Ceremony at Polyhouse of KITS Farm
Polyhouse @ KITS
With the advent of evolutionary science and technology, we as the Karunya family have persistently endeavoured to serve humanity by attaining higher expertise and productive mindset in our students to bring solution to human problems.
Befitting this virtue, we established a polyhouse in the Department of Agriculture, School of Agriculture and Biosciences, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. The polyhouse is a climate controlled structure, used for growing high value crops with precision technology. By the use of polyhouse farming, crops can be protected from adverse environment such as high humidity or high temperatures. Temperature and humidity and ventilation can be controlled by the automated equipment fixed in the polyhouse.
The polyhouse is equipped with automation and fertigation unit in which required quantity of water along with desired dosage of fertilizers can be precisely given to the plants.
From limited area, high productivity of commercially important high value crops can be achieved with excellent quality in the polyhouse. During the current season, we have planted the following crops in the polyhouse of 1000 m2 area and obtained a bountiful harvest.
