LANCET CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR SURGICAL INNOVATION
Karunya University being a nodal centre in India for Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, an International organization which provides surgical benefits to the poor patients has established the Centre of Excellence for Surgical Innovation (CoESI) in the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering programme. It offers platform for innovation in surgical, health care and biomedical device development. This innovation cell would interact with SEESHA and Karunya University (KU) to identify societal problems to enhance the quality of life in rural health care. It is associated with the Harvard Medical School which supports the centre in reviewing the projects and helps in getting funding. Collaborative research projects are in progress with South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) and Staan Biomed Engineering in Coimbatore. Dr.J.Gnanaraj, Director - Medical Services (SEESHA) and Dr. A. Shobha Rekh, Director - Industry and Academia Collaborations (KU) are the Incharges for (CoESI)
