B.Sc Nursing
B.Sc. Nursing is a four-year, fulltime Undergraduate Degree Program, which comprises of foundational and core courses, where students are trained to serve as registered nurses, qualified to practice in a host of medical organisations. The Program trains aspiring nurses academically, technologically and practically by providing them quality education, internships, career-oriented trainings and managerial skills.
The College of Nursing has six departments with a curriculum that encompasses fundamentals of nursing, medical and surgical nursing, child health nursing, community health nursing, mental health nursing, and obstetrics and gynaecological nursing, besides anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, genetics, pharmacology, psychology, sociology, communication and educational technology, research methodology, administration and management. Simulation is feasibly integrated throughout the curriculum to enable students to develop core nursing competencies.
Since nursing practice requires personal commitment, professional development and life-long learning, the curriculum equips prospective nurses with the required knowledge and skills that enable them to recognize and respect human differences and provide professional care with respect and dignity.
The 100 bedded Karunya Hospital and Karunya Care Homes for the elderly and mentally challenged on campus, provide valuable insights and practical experience in demonstrating nursing skills to the sick, aged and needy and through R & D, develop assistive medical devices to alleviate their problems.
