INTEGRATED CIRCUITS LAB
Integrated Circuits laboratory is a well-furnished laboratory equipped with electronic instruments with par to the industry. The laboratory consists of instruments mainly related to Digital Electronics and Analog Integrated Circuits Technology. Some of the major components available are Digital Integrated Circuits Trainers, Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Integrated Circuits Testers, Multi-meters, Regulated Power Supplies etc.,This laboratory is one among the core practical oriented learning facility in the department which enables the students to come up with innovative digital and analog electronic designs.
ELECTRONICS LAB
Background
This is our busiest set of laboratories, in terms of utilization. This is the main lab where basic experiments like device characteristics and basic analog circuits are held. This lab is general enough to hold a number of experiments suitable for giving students enough exposure to enable them to easily adopt experiments in more advanced laboratories in the department.
Description
All basic electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied. Using these devices, the small electronic circuits and mini projects can be constructed and checked. In order to introduce the students with basic components of electronics this lab is furnished with advanced CROs, function generators and digital multi meters. Students can perform practical on P-N junction diode, Zener Diode, rectifiers and filters, transistor biasing and their characteristics in different modes, RC coupled amplifiers and FETs.
Utilization
This lab is utilized for conducting the following course(s):
- Electron Devices and Circuits Lab
- Electronics and Integrated Circuits Lab
- Electronics and Microprocessor Lab
Current Equipments:
Voltmeters, Ammeters, Digital Multimeter, Regulated Power Supply, Single Fixed Power Supply (5V), Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (20 MHz, 30 MHz), Function Generator, Decade Resistance Box, Capacitance Box, Inductance Box, Digital IC Trainer Kit, L.C.R. Meter, Digital Storage Oscilloscope, IC tester and Computers
SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB
In theoretical and practical aspects, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is concerned of representing information bearing signals in digital form, and with using computers or special purpose digital hardware (like DSP processors) either to extract that information or to transform the signals in useful ways. Areas where digital signal processing has made a significant impact include: Image processing, bio-medical signal processing, Audio signal processing, communications, Soft computing and data analysis, speech and information processing, DSP algorithms, hardware architectures, and DSP software.
The Signal Processing laboratory, part of ECE, Department of Electrical Sciences, at Karunya University is at the forefront of research and academic. The laboratory occupies around 936 square feet area with very good infrastructure. The laboratory boasts excellent modern computer facilities for research and education; DSP processors and its IDE. The processor includes TMS 320C6416, TMS 320C6713 and Blackfin 533. Digital signal processors are used in a wide range of applications, such as in communications, controls, speech processing, and so on. They are used in cellular phones, digital cameras, high-definition television (HDTV), radio, fax transmission, modems, and other devices. These devices have also found their way into our university classroom, where they provide an economical way to introduce real-time digital signal processing (DSP) to the student.
MICROWAVE LAB
Microwave lab paves way as a platform for students to explore microwave characteristics and various microwave devices (Klystron, Gunn, Wave guides) operating in X, J, K & C bands. Experiments related to high speed optical communication are analyzed for different optical sources with 600nm, 880nm, 1510nm, 1530nm, 1550nm, 1570nm. Research facilities of this lab include designing and simulation of microwave devices and components using FEKO (EM simulation software) and the same can be fabricated using Eleven Lab (Fabrication unit).
ECE LIBRARY
ECE library provides access to the information resources required by members of the University for Research, learning and teaching. There is a wealth of material to support learning and research in the ECE programme. The library holds around 655 books exclusively for the Electronics and Communication Engineering department and many reputed International journals.
