The Program Outcomes and Program Specific Outcomes are designed with the vision and mission of our Institute in general and the vision and mission of the Physics Department in particular. The assessment methodology followed by the department is continuous assessment method. Periodically, internals are conducted (3 in total) followed by an end semester examination for a particular subject. Internal Quality Assessment is also given at regular intervals which tend to cover the Course Outcome of a particular subject. After the end semester results are out, the course outcomes are calculated for every subject. The direct CO is calculated based on the marks obtained by a student in a particular subject. It is given 80% weightage. The indirect CO is calculated based on the feedback received from the passing out students and it is given 20% weightage. After the final cumulative CO is obtained, PO Attainment is calculated.

The cumulative CO is taken into consideration for the calculation of direct PO attainment. This direct PO attainment is given 80% weightage. It is calculated from the course articulation matrix which maps the course outcomes of a particular subject with the program outcomes and a matrix table is made. The direct PO attainment is a result of calculation arising out of this exercise. The indirect PO attainment is calculated from the feedbacks on the POs collected from passing out students (current), alumni (Yesteryear students), parents of the students (current and past years) and employers. They are given a questionnaire containing the POs and they are asked to provide their opinion about how much they think they have achieved or confident of achieving these POs. This indirect PO attainment is given 20% weightage.

The final cumulative PO attainment is thus addition of 80% direct PO attainment and 20% indirect PO attainment. This is the procedure which is followed at the Department of Applied Physics for calculation of attainment of POs.

Testimonies by our Alumni

Mr.Immanuel Paulraj
Myself Immanuel Paulraj doing Ph.D., in the Department of Physics, National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan and I will testify my short, but intense, experience at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. I am very pleased with everything I’ve experienced and learned in the Master of Science at Karunya institute of Technology and Sciences, in which I had the opportunity to learn a lot of the research skills and research experiences in Department of Physics. Physics department has highly qualified faculty members who are always ready to share all of their knowledge with us. I was so impressed by the level of support by the university they provide peaceful campus, best infrastructure of the class room and instruments facilities. I gained both the skills and confidence to thoughtfully use a variety.

Dr. Toijam Sunder Meetei
Recently Graduated from SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
My two years at the Department of Physics, Karunya Institute of Technology & Sciences (KITS), Tamil Nadu, has been outstanding and a memory that will remain forever. Words are limitless to express the support, kindness, and motivation that I received from the department throughout the course. M.Sc. Physics course at KITS provides a distinctive combination of practical-based in-depth learning and self-development. The course is designed with a robust curriculum, good infrastructure, and well-qualified faculties. The lectures were well-planned and always inspired me to pursue higher education. In addition, I had been exposed to various events such as Conference, Physics Club, Summer School Programme, Industrial Visit, and other departmental activities. With all of these activities, I was able to establish a solid foundation in Physics while also increasing my self-confidence, both of which were highly beneficial during my doctoral studies. Lastly, I am incredibly thankful to the management, faculties, friends, and well-wishers for their inspiration and kind support..

I am Vinothkumar Lourdhusamy doing Ph.D., in National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan. It was my immense luck and fortune to be the part of Karunya University which is in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. I have established my research knowledge, leadership, time management skills and have also been able to advance these skills to the whole new augment level. The entire faculty and department leaves no stone unturned to shape one's future. My two years at Karunya University have been a wonderful experience of learning with prolific exposure to outside. It gave me an opportunity to meet different kind of people and learned many things. Huge respect, love and devotion by entire faculty members and Department. It's their efforts that make me to count myself into a better professional now.

Ms. Aashna Sharin M
Research Scholar, SRMIST.
I am Aashna Sharin currently pursuing my Ph.D.Physics in Department of Physics and Nanotechnology at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. I want to share my experience of my masters degree in Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences which is a great memory to cherish throughout my life. This is the Place where I learnt many skills and gathered a lots of knowledge. I learned a lot about research along with the subject .The facilities in lab helped me to work and learn much instrumentation which is more important for a Researcher. Our Staff members were so motivating and helped us in every way possible to build our future by showing a lot of opportunities available for us. The infrastructure and the environment in karunya was so peaceful and made me do works with the presence of God.And during the lockdown also university was helping us to enhance our knowledge by making us learn Aptitude and other online courses by creating online platforms to all the students which will be so helpful to write any competitive exams.I am very thankful to God for the university , my staff members and my friends who are all helped me along then and till now.
