ALGAE BIOMASS RESEARCH LABORATORY
Algae Biomass Research Laboratory is an Industry supported research lab established under the Department of Biotechnology, School of Agriculture and Biosciences with a vision to“Research on micro and macroalgae”.Ongoing algae research addresses the issues on water, energy, environment and health, as micro and macro algae are known to perform photosynthesis and produce half of the atmospheric oxygen, while using simultaneously the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide to grow photo-autotrophically and reduce carbon foot print. Microalgae produce unique products like carotenoids, antioxidants, fattyacids, enzymes, polymers, peptidesandtoxins and hence find wide applications.

BIOINFORMATICS RESEARCH LAB
Welcome to the Bioinformatics lab at Department of Biotechnology KITS. We develop and apply in silico tools that apply computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and theoretical systems biology to simulate molecular and cellular processes. The sophisticated lab facilitys are utilized for academic and research purpose the studies includes lab studies the mechanisms by which transcription factors are recruited to their specific DNA sites, both in vitro and in vivo, and how this recruitment is affected by changes in the DNA or protein sequence. We use protein binding microarray assays and computational approaches that combine different types of information relevant for DNA binding and transcriptional regulation.
