Solar and Wind Energy Laboratory
Solar Experimental Kit
It consists of
1. PV Module characterization kit to study the effect of different angular positions, I-V Characteristics at different electrical connections
2. PV System characterization kit to study the efficiency of the whole PV System by studying the efficiency of individual unit.
3. Solar Simulator (solar cell characterization unit) to study the dependency of solar cell output on light intensity and temperature.
Using the above units the students will get hands on experience in charge carrier life time measurement and the complete PV system working.
Wind Tunnel Experimental Set-up
It consists of
1. Two wind tunnels with artificial wind generation.
2. Small Wind Turbines can be tested for various wind speed profiles.
3. Power Generation and Efficiency of wind turbines can be tested.
4. Maximum power tracking from wind turbine power curve.
Electric Drives Laboratory
The main objectives of this laboratory in the aspect of research are
• Research, development and implementation of advanced technologies in the field of Electric Drives and mainly focused on the control of electric drives for generation of Renewable Energy.
• Comprehensive solutions to issues of power quality in electric drives.
The main research focus is on power electronics applications in electric motor drives and renewable energy systems. Electric drives investigated cover a wide range of applications including plug-in, hybrid, and electric vehicles, and electric propulsion. Efficiency, control, optimization, reliability and real-time operation of most power electronic systems and Special Machines & Drives are of main interest. The lab has a very dynamic environment with several active research projects. New equipment is already up and running for various experiments.
Power Engineering Simulation Laboratory
Simulation tool helps in validating the ideas and new concepts which born’s in an engineer’s mind which seeks for solution to a problem. Sophisticated Computer programs are used in Power Engineering Simulation Laboratory for the purpose of analysis and design in the following domains.
