Egged by the remarkable growth of the Indian Food Industry, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences with a generous grant to the tune of 4.5 Crores from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Gov. of India established the Division of Food Processing Technology in the year 2005.
The vision of the division has been to align itself to national issues such as food security and safety while keeping abreast with international targets such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of no poverty (SDG1), zero hunger (SDG2) and quality education (SDG4).
The division offers B.Tech., M.Tech. and PhD programmes in Food Processing and Engineering and also M.Sc. in Food Science and Technology. These programmes are aimed at creating food engineers, technologist and scientists capable in solving human problems and create a vibrant teaching and learning environment.
All programmes are supplemented with industrial internships, collaborations and certifications through national and international institutions.
